First... the flash site BLOWS! So is there a non-flash version somewhere? Also I'm sure there are other important links to forums, class information, etc. Someone do us all a favor and post the shit.

I've had people throw a number of different "official" AoC sites at me. The flash site hates me. I think it's just a front to divert the less crafty players from ever finding the real site, which ultimately helps the main webpage from ever getting overloaded from traffic. :p
this is the one I use: http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi?func=frontend.show&template=main
You can find some very general information about the game from the main page there.
If you're trying to pick a class I'd recommend a healer. We only seem to have a handful of them. I can't imagine why, they're fairily powerful...
Casters in general appear to be underpowered, but I'm no expert. Apparently they'll be the first classes to get revamped. The rogue archetypes dish out damage, big surprise there. Rangers are absolutely sick atm, if you don't mind being branded a treehugger.
Tanks, well, tank. I think of them as 'decoys' in PVP :p At the start of a Team Annihilation PvP match I always look at the other team's roster to find out who the tanks are so I can save them for last.
Crowd Control is pretty sweet in PvP. Knock a player down and they can be dead before they get up if you have the right team.
Priests of Mitra have a few CC abilities, the most powerful (and most obvious to spot in PvP...) is Repulse, a PBAoE knockback. With the correct Feat specialization Repulse can be souped up to dish out double damage (three more levels 'til I get this!) and have an increased knockback range. I have an idea called "herding cattle" for PvP, would love to see how it'd actually work out... Take two PoMs, each one veering to the other side of a loosely packed group of PvPers, have both use Repulse to try to "herd" the players closer together and line 'em up for AoEs. :) In order for it to work there would have to be a sizeable enough frontal attack squad to get their attention for a few seconds, long enough to do the pincer.

Found a zone map... it's huge though.
