I actually spent all week telling everybody we were going to lose that series. It's one thing to take the weak east by getting past a vastly overrated team like Orlando, and quite another to beat a team as solid as LA.

Celts were too old, and despite the overall quality/depth, just don't have that one guy that's anywhere near reliable enough offensively to hand the ball off to crunch time and tell "we need you to fucking score". They wern't going to beat Kobe and the Lakers without one, and were actually fairly lucky to push it to 7 imo.

On that note, Rondo needs to spend this winter learning to shoot something other then a floater :(

If Rondo was able to shoot from range even just a little bit, I think the Celtics would have won that series. They didn't have "the guy" and Paul Pierce especially was just a shell of his former offensive self, but they could have won it anyways if Rondo could hit shots when they sagged off him.

The Lakers gave him his corner J and kept their bigs in front of him in the paint. If Rondo had any kind of range whatsoever those bigs would have to rotate out to him when the ball moved quick enough and it would have been a totally different game.

Not having Perkins in that last game was huge as well. He doesn't score big, but the physical play down low is good for tiring those Laker bigs out.

And Kobe Bryant was basically nonexistant in game 7. That is unheard of. The defense was there for the most part, we just couldn't score when it mattered.

IMO it was still very winnable despite all of that. Next year is going to be depressing for Celtic basketball though.
